Is it just me or is pixelated 8-bit art getting more and more popular lately? Artist Ashley Anderson aka “pressstarttobegin” from Atlanta has made some amazing 8-bit postcards as well as pistols and knifes. The weapons are made out of wood and painted with high quality Liquitex acrylics. They are also sealed with spray-on varnish so it won’t damage if scratching.
The postcards on the other hand are digitally printed on both sides with a size of 4 x 6 inches. What the cards are showing are literally a mix of a variety of digital sources such as old video games. That is what Ashley’s art focus on; fine art of forgotten imagery from early video games. He has participated in exhibitions in New York City, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. If you are interested in owning one of his pieces, you can buy them at his website.
8-bit popularity is just growing, here another art piece that shows how 8-bit video game figures would look like at the butcher.
