If you’ve seen the animated movie UP you know what this is all about; People that refuse to move because of construction projects that is going on around them. This happens constantly. Mostly those people eventually realize that they need to give up, but here are some examples that are extreme:

Edith passed away 2 years ago, but her 110 year old house is still standing in the middle of gigantic buildings.

Chongqing, China:
Because of some company construction work 241 families had to move, but the family Wu refused for whole 3 years. They denied an offer of $2 million. At the end they had to live without power, and the workers dug a 10 meter abyss around them.

In the middle of Kingkey Finance Tower there is one old house left on the pavement. The owners refused to move even though they got a offer that is worth 15 times more than their house.
